My Adjectival Summer

In this first blog post, you will write 1 solid paragraph (6-8 sentences) explaining how words or actions changed you this summer. You will begin your paragraph with this sentence:

"I have never felt more _____________________(strong adjective) because of something that happened this summer."

After writing this sentence and filling in the blank with a strong adjective, you will explain what actions or words caused you to feel this way this summer.

For example, I might write, "I have never felt more energized because of something that happened this summer. This summer, I went camping nearly every weekend...." (In my next sentences, I would go on to explain how the experience of camping this summer has made me feel energized).

*Remember, blog posts are posted on "school property." Anything you post must be school-appropriate--something that you wouldn't mind Mrs. Pramenko or your parents reading.

  1. I have never felt more accomplished because of something that happened this summer. This summer in the last week of July, I spent a week at a camp in Indiana working with adults with mental or intellectual disabilities. I attended the camp through my church. It made me feel accomplished because I spent a whole week not focusing on myself and helping another person have best week they could possibly have. The person I was paired up with was a 26 year old with a mild case of mental retardation, and ADHD.. He was a very nice guys, with loads of energy.. On the Sunday he was leaving he had an great time and that he hoped to see me next year. After he said that it made me feel accomplished.

  2. I have never felt more active because of something that happened this summer. In past summers, I only did one sport and it was baseball. Otherwise I was a couch potato. This summer, I had to get up at 6:20 every morning so I could make my way to swimming practice. I then had to go to weights for freshmen football. After weights, I had to hurry home to babysit my fifth grade neighbor. It was probably the most active summer I've had in my life.

  4. I cant believe that summer is finally over. It went so fast. I remember the last day of 8th grade like it was yesterday. Its funny how fast everything goes by. For example I was camping in my grandmas camper about to go to sleep when I was thinking life would be like with out school and it is just summer. I mean when its ever summer break for me i always feel relaxed. I don't have any worries all I have to do is just have fun and hang with my friends. But when school is around the corner you have to get school supplies orientations and all that but summer is better with no worries.

  5. I have felt more strong after summer break because of hiking and playing baseball! As I was playing baseball my coach made our team run a lot! All of that running has made me feel like I have stronger legs and able to run farther and longer. I also went backpacking and hiked a long high trail with a big heavy pack. After climbing the mountain it seams like I can climb higher and more difficult mountains. I hope that next summer I can go on a more difficult mountain and get even more strong!

  6. I have never felt more bored(with a little entertainment) this summer. The reason i have been so overwhelmingly bored is because there was not much to do this summer. My friends we always on vacation and I was broke the whole summer. But there were alot of really good movies out this summer, so that helped me out. I played lacrosse very frequiently and that was fun too. But other than a movie here and a lacrosse game there, my summer was pretty unadventful.

  7. I have felt more adventurous this summer because of something that happened this summer. This summer, I went on long hike with my cousins. We hiked 10 miles in a canyon. There was no service or stores or anything. I felt like I was an explorer. I also was very adventurous in trying new foods. I tried tofu and salmon for the first time. This summer has changed me because I became more adventurous.

  8. I have never felt more patient because of something that happened this summer. This summer, during the beginning of August, our family took a road trip to California. It was a 17 hour drive from Denver to Malibu Beach where we stayed. Can u imagine sitting in a car with six other people for 17 hours?!?! I was forced to listen to 70's music with my dad while getting squished in the middle seat by my two sisters. And to add to the madness, my five year old brother constantly cried throughout the whole trip. But overtime I learned to control myself, and take time to breathe. And that's how I became more patient over the summer.

  9. I have never felt more burned out this summer because of something that happened this summer. This summer I went to six different states in one month. The fist four states I went to were all in one trip. The trips main purpose was a lacrosse tournament in Pennsylvania. During that trip I visited New Jersey, New York, Delaware and of course Pennsylvania. Then one day after I got back from there I went to Texas for a week and a half. Directly after that I went to Southern California for a while. After all that traveling I felt extremely tried, because of the multiple time differences.

  10. I have never felt more joyful because of something that happened this summer. This summer I went back to my hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan to visit all m friends and family that I haven't seen since December of 2011. I was very joyful because ever day I was there I tried to make it worth it because I knew I wouldn't be there too long so ever time I seen someone I knew i was very happy and joyful because its been so long since I've seen them. One day I went to the movies to go see "Ted" with a bunch of my friends and then we went to dinner at Applebees, I had a great time. That's why I was so joyful.

  11. I have never felt more nervous because of something that happened this summer. This summer I ran junior Olympic track. At every track meet I felt so nervous that I might throw up. I would walk out onto the track with my legs shaky and unstable like jello because of the nerves. Once the gun went off the feeling would disappear. But, as soon as I would start to get ready for my next race the nervous shaky feeling would return.

  12. I have never felt more relaxed because of something that happened this summer. I was able to leave middle school with an almost perfect year and able to enter summer knowing I did well. All of summer was just a time to hang back and cool down. I woke up every morning knowing that I was able to do whatever, whenever I wanted to. Some days even came without me asking friends to come over and just ended up with me looking up off the trampoline into the clouds. I also learned to relax by taking a minute and doing nothing. I hope more and more summers come to me just like this one did.

  13. I have never felt so relaxed because of what happened this summer. This summer i went to Cancun, Mexico. While i was in cancun i stayed at a all inclusive resort, witch means all of the food, drinks, anything was free. The most exciting thing I did while i was there was go parasailing with my older brother. We could see all different types off fish while we were in the air. We also went on this huge boat where we were able to scuba dive.Another thing while we were there was go on an island and eat lunch and go shopping. Everywhere you looked there was a person asking you if you would buy there product. My time in Cancun, Mexico was a lot of fun.

  14. i have never felt more insignificant this summer. This summer I went to my grandfathers 5/7th Calvary meeting (from the Vietnam war) in Texas. every person around me have gone through something very painful, such as having men die in there arms, having nightmares since the late sixties early fifty's it was a very sad and intense summer. I wont ever forget and I wont ever question my grandfather ever again. I remember a woman that came to the meeting as her husbands last request. Even if the old men forget where home is and who there grandchildren are, they deserve immense respect from those who are younger than them this is just one of the lessons ive learned this summer.

  15. I have never felt more passionate because of something that happened this summer. I didn’t really have much of anything to do this summer so, I spent a lot of time drawing. Drawing is what I do best,it’s what I enjoy the most. I started a series of drawings in my sketchbook that I titled “What’s your Phobia” which was a series of drawings of the most common fears and phobias. I learned a lot about what phobias are. I felt passionate when drawing “Glossophobia” because, it’s a very common fear that even I share. It’s the fear of public speaking and I learned 75% of people have this fear. Ithink drawing what you fear, or even just have strong feelings for, is a good way to express yourself.

  16. I have never felt more achievement because of something that happened this summer. I signed up for football which got me off the couch. This helped me because I do not want to be lazy all summer. This made me feel achievement knowing that I am doing something with my life. This also helped me prepare for track season. To conclude i feel happier doing something than nothing

  17. I have never felt more excited than what happened over the summer. I was really excited because I had many softball tournaments. These were exciting because of all the adrenaline that went along with playing in the game. My family also went to a Chicago Cubs game in Chicago. It was exciting because the Cubs beat the Pirates 14-4. We went camping and that was very exciting. The trip was exciting because we saw two bears. These were all very exciting events over the summer

  19. I have never felt more thankful because of something that happened this summer. In the beginning of the summer I was with my family I felt so thankful to be with them for that much time seeing as we all are busy. I was able to be with them most of the summer, which made me feel very thankful. Also in the summer I felt thankful when I was able to help my sister and watch her kids for a little while. This made me feel thankful because I was thankful that she would trust me and my sister to watch her kids. So overall that was what made me feel thankful this summer.

  20. I have never felt more excited because of something that happened this summer. Instead of visiting Washington D.C. during the 8th grade school year, my parents told me that I would be able to go somewhere else during the summer. I was extremely excited because later I was informed that I was going scuba diving, which also meant I would see tropical fish. I kept dreaming of the glittering oceans that I was going to see in the Cayman Islands. When I arrived in Cayman from Miami, I felt the humid air cling to my skin as I walked down to the luscious island of paradise. I saw multiple fish and I even saw a turtle and I learned that scuba diving isn’t frightening it’s really easy and extremely enjoyable. My trip to Cayman would have never been possible without my parent’s actions and therefore I will never forget about scuba diving and I can’t wait to go again someday.

  21. I have never felt more exhausted because of something that happened this summer. Everyday for the whole summer I swam from 7-9 a.m. and then from 2-4 p.m. in an Olympic sized pool. Not including that every other weekend I had a swim meet on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The only day I had a break was every other Sunday, which sucked. I was so tired all the time I barely had any time to hang out with any of my friends. But the good thing was that after Sate which was in July, we got 3 weeks off.

  22. I have never felt more exited because of something that happened this summer. My friend tyler balducki invited bryce donte and i to go to copper mountain with him and skate at woodward. i was also really happy that i get back from camping four days with my dad at rampart with two friends 2 days before copper. And after going nowhere the WHOLE summer you could see that i was very hyped for these trips. Neither of the trips disappointed me, in the mountains we hiked up 2 mountains and caught fish, and in copper i got to skate all day at woodward and then go into the busy city at night it was very fun and tiring so it wasnt that bad having to go home. But i really hope i can do this again next summer!

  24. I have never felt more accomplished because of something that happened this summer. Earlier in the year I had tried out for the Arapahoe JV cheer team and made it. My brest friend had also made it so i was ecstatic to be trying something new with her. June was the start of our very first practices together as a team. It may have been at six am every morning but that didn't matter to me. What mattered was that I had accomplished something I never thought I could and I was really happy about it. When camp came around I was ready for three days full of non stop cheering. Throughout this camp my stunt group had accomplished so much and it felt great to know that we are capable of difficult stunts. We have all worked so hard this summer and I can already tell that cheer is going to be a sport that love, even though it may be challenging at times.
